The Knitting & Weaving Page |
![]() |
Well, I finally have a knitting web page. For now, I just have a few pictures, but I'm going to find pictures of some of my favorite projects and get them scanned and up by the end of the semester. By the way, the lovely picture above was painted for me by my young friend, Nico (check out his father's landscaping efforts on our behalf).
Ultimately, I hope to get corresponding patterns up for the things I've designed myself, which is most of my projects, but that project is even lower on the list. Also, I hate to admit it, but I've been a very bad boy and uncharacteristically non-anal-retentive about keeping my own patterns someplace where I can find them (if I still have them at all).
I just re-organized these pages into several galleries by garment type to make it easier to manage the page updates. Use the links below for the type of garment you'd like to see. At some point, I'll add separate pages to organize the images by recipient.
By the way, the background pattern is a fair isle pattern I created for a sweater for Grant that I knit in worsted weight Merino wool. The sweater has vertical stripes of purple and teal as the main colors against horizontal stripes of black and navy blue as the background colors. I had to teach myself how to knit two-handed-stranded in reverse to be able to change from Teal to Purple to Teal to create vertical stripes. I'm very excited even though I had some slight variations in tension at the beginning of the project. After all, you can only knit practice swatches for so long... Now I'm using the pattern in a fair isle sweater for myself (but I'm only using two colors and knitting it in the round.
